How DocMode helped to deliver end–to–end LMS solutionMedical e-learning

A renowned Indian multinational pharmaceutical company with a presence in more than 40 countries; employs over 20,000 people worldwide and a goal of creating greater health outcomes hits a road block when creating a complete LMS for online medical education for physicians.

During the Covid pandemic, this online learning platform received more than 1000 HCP registrations for two CME programs and over 800 enrollments. The number of registrations and enrollments on the site astonishingly increased by a factor of 6 as we developed 8 courses each across 11 specialties for this renowned Indian multinational pharmaceutical company with a presence in more than 40 countries, and with over 200 products. This helped them overcome the pandemic-related difficulty to connect with physicians, reach out to and involve HCPs, inform them of new treatments, handing out samples, scheduling in-person meetings, and inviting them to CME events.

To make this possible, DocMode created a whole LMS based on the design of the Moodle LMS and created APIs to combine various technologies like CRM, Marketing Automation, Google Analytics, and a Google Data Studio dashboard for a comprehensive overview of analytics. Starting with course design, coordinating video production, uploading the videos, MCQs, and reading collateral to SCROM, our team built each course to ensure continuous production.

challenge

With the COVID pandemic, the corporation was having a very difficult time connecting with physicians. Reaching and involving healthcare professionals (HCPs) used to be simple; pharmaceutical field forces would phone, inform HCPs of new treatments, hand out samples, schedule in-person meetings, and invite them to CME events. While COVID-19 was underway, the environment shifted. As a result, brands were using more digital engagement strategies, such as webinars, online case studies, video-based CME programmes, etc.

In response to the pandemic, HCPs started using digital learning platforms, and the requirement for personalization and permission prompted lot of pharma companies to venture into launching of an online learning environment.

solution

The initiative called for the introduction of online learning platforms with pharma firm branding for the Indian HCP community in more than 11 important specialties. As it was vital to partner with health tech platforms that have experience in the field of HCP online learning, the client awarded DocMode Health Technologies with the responsibility of delivering this platform and handling regular end-to-end production.

To encourage iteration and ongoing user and customer feedback, we adhered to the SCRUM agile methodology. Clients were involved in each phase of the process in this way, and we ensured there were no issues that arose.

We suggested creating a whole LMS based on the design of the Moodle LMS and creating APIs to combine various technologies like CRM, Marketing automation, Google Analytics, and a Google Data Studio dashboard for a comprehensive overview of analytics.

After the platform was created, we created collateral to raise awareness and entice healthcare professionals (HCPs) to sign up for online webinars and CME programmes, which will aid in spreading the word and raising awareness. We started interest-based targeting as the users started signing up for various programmes, based on their prior programme enrollments. In order to make information more quickly consumable, we also create scientific articles, news bytes, and video bytes.

DocMode proposed creating a studio team to commence this digital project with the pharma client that would be fully focused on the design, development, implementation of APIs, launch, and end-to-end production of this platform.

Starting with course design, coordinating video production, uploading the videos, MCQs, and reading collateral to SCORM, the studio team built each course to ensure continuous production. The SCORM file from which it was exported was then used to upload it into the sandbox version of the online learning platform. The instructional design team will ensure and test the course before it goes live after importing the materials into the sandbox version.

results

After the online learning platform was introduced, it received more than 1000 HCP registrations for two CME programmes and 800 enrollments. The number of registrations and enrollments on the site astonishingly increased by a factor of 6 as the course went on. As a result of this gradual rise in HCP registration, DocMode and the client launched 8 courses in each specialty to encourage enrollment from various HCPs.
